Overview

DECISIVE ANALYTICS Corporation is looking for a SME, Aircraft Avionics Engineer to provide support to AFLCMC in Dayton, OH.

 

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Medium Altitude Unmanned Aircraft Systems Division (WII) is responsible for the development, test, production, and sustainment of the medium altitude unmanned aerial vehicle systems. This position provides advisory and assistance services support to the government program office at their Wright-Patterson AFB operating location.

 

Responsibilities

  • Subject Matter Expert in avionics computer systems and software that provides systems engineering and integration support for the unmanned aircraft, sensor and ground control systems (GCS). Address mechanical, electrical, power, flight control systems, data links, network architectures, and cybersecurity.
  • Manage the development, upgrade, and accreditation of data network architectures between the aircraft, GCS, and downstream customers or mission participants.
  • Support all phases of subsystem component and system-level integration and testing that includes: develop and review test plans and procedures, oversight of integration and test activities, and analysis of test results.
  • Prepare airworthiness plans for the integration of payloads or modifications affecting the weapons system, to include documentation and supporting artifacts, and coordination of Military Flight Release (MFR) approvals.
  • Assess the performance of aeronautical and ground-based systems and associated subsystems and equipment. Identify potential issues or areas for improvement.
  • Analyze operational requirements, evolving requirements or deficiencies, investigate and recommend potential solutions, evaluate Contractor proposed design changes and solutions, and oversee the correction of deficiencies.
  • Interface with weapons system contractors, vendors, and Government representatives regarding the technical aspects of engineering activities; independently apply engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, oversee, and evaluate weapons system development and sustainment activities; and prepare and review engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
  • Provide engineering expertise, oversight, and participation to activities involving weapons system and associated support equipment hardware/software development, integration and test, configuration management, quality assurance testing, and acquisition and resource management.
  • Support program technical interchange meetings, program management reviews, executive management reviews, test-related meetings, lab and flight test events, integrated product team meetings, software/hardware design reviews, and platform integration meetings.
  • Perform technical risk assessments and develop mitigation plans.

Qualifications

Required:

  • TOP SECRET security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility and background investigation current within the past 6 years. (Interim clearances or investigations greater than 6 years are not acceptable.)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 20 years of relevant experience.
  • Indepth knowledge of DoD acquisition engineering support.

Desired:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • 12 months or more of Special Access Program (SAP) experience within the past 5 years.
  • 10 years of DoD Acquisition Program Office experience.
  • Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification in Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering
  • Experience with Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) weapon systems.
  • Experience with aircraft airworthiness and human factors.
